Champagne Henriot: Organic certification, eco‑packaging & “Blanc Souverain” revival

This spring, Maison Henriot simplifies its entire range with a single, fully recyclable lineup: Héméra now ships in unvarnished wooden crates, while all other cuvées come in ink‑free kraft boxes. Labels and caps have been slimmed down, doing away with gilding and plastic shields to cut waste and reflect the estate’s terroir.

Henriot revives its 1880s “Blanc Souverain” name for the Blanc de Blancs—alongside Brut Souverain—each blending premier and grand crus (12 for Blanc Souverain, 29 for Brut) with reserve stocks dating back to 1969, to showcase its historic Côte des Blancs vineyards.

On its 37 hectares, Henriot earns full organic certification for the first time, reducing yields to 3,500 kg/ha (vs. Champagne’s 8,500 kg/ha) and promoting biodiversity. The 2015 vintage, overseen by cellar master Alice Tétienne, defies expectations: a Pinot Noir–rich blend (53 percent) from top crus, picked for freshness, yielding a finely detailed, high‑acidity wine with yellow fruit, vanilla and smoke—proof that every Henriot vintage tells its own story.
