On April 11, Baghera/wines held its 10th quarterly “Kipling” sale—dedicated to the finest grands crus—and confirmed its standing among top-tier wine auctioneers. Of the 288 lots offered, 254 found buyers, generating a total of €978,600 with an impressive 88.2 % sell‑through rate.
The standout lot was six bottles of Mouton Rothschild 1961, hammering at €23,509—nearly €4,000 a bottle—well above pre-sale estimates and underlining the vintage’s legendary status. Other marquee results included six bottles of La Mission Haut-Brion 1955 at €13,074 and a case of Latour 1937 at €8,498. Even rarer bottles drew fierce competition: a Corton 1865 and a Romanée 1919 each sold for €7,919.
Buyers from across Europe and Asia dominated the room and the phone lines, testifying to ongoing global demand for rare and collectible wines. With nearly €1 million raised and top-tier vintages in strong demand, Baghera/wines once again delivered on its promise to showcase the “best of the best” in the fine‑wine market.
